The Aurian Haller Band
The Aurian Haller Band plays a unique blend of folk, pop and jazz, which combines the tunes of award-winning poet and singer/songwriter, Aurian Haller, with a talented group of musicians from Quebec City. The quartet features a range of sounds from acoustic guitar and mandolin, string bass and slide guitar, to soaring electric guitar solos and synth pads. At the heart of the music are Haller’s haunting lyrics. Haller has written several books and has won numerous national awards, including the Canadian National Magazine Award for poetry. His songs are reminiscent of Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake, but also echo francophone influences such as Daniel Bélanger.
AHB released their first EP, Island, in 2009 and will release their first album, Normal Town, in the spring of 2011. "Aurian Haller has a magnetic stage presence and a voice you just want to wrap yourself up in.” - Elizabeth Robertson, CBC Radio 1.
